The First Renaissance: 1300-1600
A civilization emerged from centuries of darkness. Ancient wisdom, long hidden in monastery vaults and Islamic libraries, suddenly flooded back into European consciousness. Greek philosophy. Roman engineering. Egyptian mysteries. All converging in a perfect storm of remembering.
The printing press shattered the monopoly on knowledge. What once required a lifetime of monastic copying could now spread across a continent in months. Information wanted to be free, and technology made it inevitable.
